More than 150 community members gathered on June 14 for LCACNJMA’s Annual Spring Community Cookout, held at a local park pavilion. Families shared traditional Liberian dishes alongside American cookout classics, while children enjoyed games and face painting organized by the Youth Development committee.

“Events like this remind us why we do this work,” said one longtime volunteer. “It is not just about the food, it is about building relationships across generations.”

The cookout also served as an informal fundraiser for the Scholarship Fund, with a suggested donation at the door. Organizers thanked everyone who volunteered their time to set up, cook, and clean up afterward.

LCACNJMA plans to make the cookout an annual tradition, with next year’s date to be announced on this page and through the newsletter.
